AbrakaBakra Copper Art – Mostar’s Heritage Craft in a Global Spotlight

We are proud to announce that AbrakaBakra Copper Art, a traditional Bosnian craft rooted in Mostar’s rich cultural heritage, has been recognized as part of the prestigious international project “Arts and Crafts in World Heritage Cities”, carried out by the Organization of World Heritage Cities (OWHC). This recognition highlights our commitment to preserving the artistry of copper craftsmanship, a hallmark of Bosnia and Herzegovina’s cultural identity.

This project unites artisans from historic cities worldwide, celebrating their roles in preserving and transmitting authentic crafts to future generations. Through its initiatives, OWHC seeks to foster indigenous craftsmanship, reduce visual contamination in historic districts, and promote local artisans like us by setting quality and authenticity standards.

For AbrakaBakra Copper Art, this is not just an acknowledgment but a step forward in revitalizing a centuries-old craft. Our work combines tradition with innovation, producing artistic objects inspired by Bosnia’s history, such as motifs from the stećci and Mostar’s iconic Stari Most. Positioned in the heart of Mostar’s Old Town, our studio bridges past and present, serving as a testament to the enduring relevance of traditional craftsmanship.

Being part of the “Arts and Crafts in World Heritage Cities” project allows us to connect with other artisans from renowned cities such as Granada, Córdoba, and Kotor. This collaboration fosters an exchange of ideas and practices, strengthening our mission to sustain Mostar’s legacy.

We are deeply honored to contribute to this global effort and invite everyone to explore our craft. Let us celebrate the resilience of traditional arts and ensure their place in our shared heritage for generations to come.
