Welcome to AbrakaBakra Copper Art, a creative workshop dedicated to revitalizing traditional crafts with a special focus on copper work. Our project is led by artist Denis Drljević from Bosnia and Herzegovina, with the goal of rediscovering the beauty and significance of crafts such as coppersmithing, which are deeply rooted in our cultural heritage. Located in the heart of the Old Town of Mostar, we offer unique handcrafted items that combine rich tradition and modern art.

From the 16th century to the present day, the modeling and processing of copper for creating decorative items and everyday objects have been a part of daily life in Bosnia and Herzegovina. Our creations, such as copper reliefs, jewelry, bookmarks, magnets, orgonites, lamps, and furniture, are imbued with tradition and innovation. Most of the pieces that come out of our workshop are made from recycled copper collected from scrap, combined with hammered old coins, wood, stone, crystals, and in collaboration with other local artisans and artists.

We draw inspiration from the unique ambiance of Mostar – its light, the Old Bridge, the historic city center, and its tradition of freedom. This environment has shaped artists who have pushed the boundaries of tradition, turning copper into art. The works of legends like Pero Džidić, Kemal Kebo, Ismet Kurt, and Safet Begović have found their way to all corners of the world, and Denis took his first steps in the craft with these masters. In this way, he developed a love for copper reliefs and the characteristic Bosnian tombstones – stećci, which have become an endless source of inspiration for him.

Throughout his journey, Denis perfected his jewelry-making skills with Safet Begović and later developed his own style and method of work, while also sharing his knowledge with others. AbrakaBakra Copper Art thus becomes not only a place where you can find unique artworks and jewelry but also a center where the rich tradition of handmade copperwork is preserved and passed on.

Our foundation is built on aesthetics, ethics, tradition, innovation, the celebration of the One God, and gratitude for the gift of life. Our mission is to spread the message of universal love, justice, wisdom, brotherhood and sisterhood, compassion, positive energy, and transcendence through art.
